About BG7BAG
Hi, I’m BG7BAG — a licensed amateur radio operator, hardware enthusiast, and independent researcher based in China. I run bg7bag.com as an independent personal website, not as a business, organization, or official body.
I’ve been active in amateur radio since 1999. This site grew out of my own notes, experiments, and the questions I kept getting from other operators — first from local club members, then from visitors and operators around the world.
My philosophy: Preserve Goodwill, Hug the Thigh — why I treat charity as a hobby, and why fame and funding are tools, not vanity.
我的处世哲学:保存善念,抱紧大腿——为什么公益只是爱好,为什么名和钱是工具。
What This Site Is For
bg7bag.com exists to help two groups of people:
- Amateur radio operators — whether you’re studying for a license, setting up a station, or looking up a manual for a handheld radio.
- Visitors to China — especially radio operators and travelers who need practical help with the apps, systems, and procedures that work differently here.
The site covers four main areas, and they connect:
- Exam preparation — Bilingual practice exams and study guides for the FCC (US) and CRAC (China) amateur radio licenses. The question banks are compiled from official published sources, with translations and explanations added by this site.
- Radio manuals and reference — Device manuals, repeater maps, and technical reference for handheld radios and related equipment. Manuals are compiled from manufacturer documentation and community knowledge.
- Visitor guides for China — Practical guides for foreign visitors: how to operate amateur radio legally as a guest in China, how to set up WeChat, Alipay, and Taobao, and how to handle SIM cards and bank accounts.
- Tools and resources — Small utilities for radio operators and travelers, such as frequency converters, timezone planners, and currency calculators.
These aren’t separate topics. A visitor who comes for the WeChat guide may also need the guest-operation guide. An operator studying for the CRAC exam may also need a radio manual. The site is organized around the real needs of people who use radio and travel between China and the rest of the world.
How Content Is Made and Checked
Accuracy matters here, because radio regulations and Chinese app procedures change, and wrong information can waste someone’s time or cause real problems. Here’s how I approach it:
- Primary sources first. For regulations, I refer to the official regulator (FCC, CRAC/Chinese Radio Association, OFCA, etc.). For equipment, I refer to the manufacturer’s own manual. For app procedures, I refer to the app’s own help documentation and test the steps myself when possible.
- Translations are checked. Bilingual content is translated by me and reviewed for technical accuracy. Translation errors are inevitable — if you spot one, please report it via the Contact page.
- AI assistance is disclosed. Some content on this site was prepared with AI tools for translation, formatting, and organization, then reviewed by me. The Legal Notices page has the full disclosure.
- Corrections are welcome. If you find an error — a wrong answer, an outdated regulation, a broken link, a mistranslation — send the page URL, the specific error, and a reliable source via Contact Us. Corrections are prioritized for exam content and regulatory information.
- Updates follow changes. When regulations change, manufacturers update manuals, or apps change their procedures, I update the affected pages. Exam question banks are updated when the official pools are revised.
Independence
bg7bag.com is an independent website operated by BG7BAG. It is not the official website of the FCC, CRAC, any radio manufacturer (including Uniden, Yaesu, or others), WeChat/Tencent, Alipay/Ant Group, Taobao/Alibaba, or any other third-party brand mentioned on this site.
Brand names, trademarks, and product names appear for identification and technical discussion only. No official affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship, or partnership is implied unless explicitly stated with verifiable evidence.
The site is funded by voluntary reader support (via Ko-fi), affiliate commissions (see Legal Notices for disclosure), and a paid consulting service. These do not affect editorial decisions about what to recommend or how to present information.
