I’ve lived in China for decades, and I’ve been a ham since 1999. Many of my ham friends work on the front lines of telecom — field operations, construction, sales. Don’t ask me what Google can answer. Ask me what only people on the ground know — I’ll find someone who has actually done it and give you a straight answer.
For visitors to China
Local questions about getting around, SIM cards, and mobile payments. Email me — I reply within 48 hours.
For radio vendors: China market consulting
Want to sell your radios in China? I’ll walk you through the path: roughly how SRRC type approval works, how to find a local distributor, and where the compliance red lines are. Email me what you need and let’s talk.
One thing upfront: no gray channels. Transmitters must go through a proper local distributor with legal type approval. That’s the bottom line — non-negotiable.
What I don’t do
- No legal, visa, immigration, or investment advice — I’m not qualified for any of that.
- I won’t file government approvals or licenses for you. I can explain the SRRC process; I won’t do the paperwork.
- No internal documents, trade secrets, or non-public information from any organization.
- No gray channels: no backdoor imports, no gray customs clearance.
- No guidance on unlocking, modifying, or re-flashing radios to get around the rules.
- No introducing interviewees to foreign media, no assisting foreign news-gathering in China.
- No sharing anyone’s private information. If I introduce a friend, I ask them first.
- No money-middleman work, no forex violations.
- Nothing involving gambling, drugs, porn, or fraud. Ever.
